About me in 2014: I am the managing member/co-creator of Buffalove Development which focuses on rehabbing vacant and/or underutilized properties in the City of Buffalo. I also work full time as a project management /client development employee for Buffalo Energy, where we focus on retrofitting historic structures to make them more energy efficient. I am heavily involved in the following organizations: Buffalo’s Young Preservationists, Women Elect / WE PAC, NESEA, WNYSEA and YAWNY. In July 2014, I will be married to Jason Wilson, my partner in life, love and business!
A little more about my life (in a nut shell): I grew up in Niagara Falls, NY where I lived a life of extreme poverty until I was 18. Today I am thankful for that life as it has instilled resilience, hunger and gratitude into everything I do. Music, theatre, swimming and dedicated teachers kept me out of trouble, especially in high school. I am made up of German, Irish and Venezuelan descent. I bought my own car for $325 in 2003. I was the first in my family to own a car. I ate my first salad when I was 18. I moved to California in 2005 thinking I would never come back to WNY. Two years later, I packed up my bags and drove across to Buffalo, landing in a city where I could walk & bike everywhere and afford to go out once in a while. I managed the largest energy retrofit in the City of Buffalo (16 buildings) from 2008 – 2011, reducing building energy usage by approx. %25 percent overall. I also completed my B.S. in Urban Planning in 2011. I could have went to Columbia University in NYC.. but I declined my graduate work to start a business. Today, I love what I do and where I am. I’m grateful and thankful for everyone I am surrounded by and for being healthy and happy. I’m one of the lucky ones.
What am I about? I am an urban planner, a preservationist and building science nerd. My work allows me to combine these three things quite easily which makes me a happy little lady. I love cities, public spaces, cats, music, historic preservation and Buffalo. I work really hard so much so that sometimes people think I am a little crazy.
